G.O.P. ‘Super PAC’ Reportedly Seeks Black Conservative To Lead Hard-Line Criticism Of Obama

According to The New York Times: “A group of high-profile Republican strategists is working with a conservative billionaire on a proposal to mount one of the most provocative campaigns of the ‘super PAC’ era and attack President Obama in ways that Republicans have so far shied away from. Timed to upend the Democratic National Convention in September, the plan would ‘do exactly what John McCain would not let us do,’ the strategists wrote. The plan, which is awaiting approval, calls for running commercials linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., whose race-related sermons made him a highly charged figure in the 2008 campaign. ‘The world is about to see Jeremiah Wright and understand his influence on Barack Obama for the first time in a big, attention-arresting way,’ says the proposal, which was overseen by Fred Davis and commissioned by Joe Ricketts, the founder of the brokerage firm TD Ameritrade. Mr. Ricketts is increasingly putting his fortune to work in conservative politics.”
More about the super PAC’s plan: “The $10 million plan, one of several being studied by Mr. Ricketts, includes preparations for how to respond to the charges of race-baiting it envisions if it highlights Mr. Obama’s former ties to Mr. Wright, who espouses what is known as ‘black liberation theology.’ The group suggested hiring as a spokesman an ‘extremely literate conservative African-American’ who can argue that Mr. Obama misled the nation by presenting himself as what the proposal calls a ‘metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln.’ A copy of a detailed advertising plan was obtained by The New York Times through a person not connected to the proposal who was alarmed by its tone. It is titled ‘The Defeat of Barack Hussein Obama: The Ricketts Plan to End His Spending for Good.’ The proposal was presented last week in Chicago to associates and family members of Mr. Ricketts, who is also the patriarch of the family that owns the Chicago Cubs.”
The article continues about the proposal: “The 54-page proposal was professionally bound and illustrated with color photographs, indicating that it is far beyond a mere discussion. The strategists have already contacted Larry Elder, a black conservative radio host in Los Angeles, about serving as a spokesman, and the plan calls for a group of black business leaders to endorse the effort. The strategists have also registered a domain name, Character Matters.”
Booker Rising response: Going hard on Obama is fine, but this is four-year-old news. These folks can’t be serious! The focus should be on (1) this awful economy under President Obama’s tenure; and (2) Obama not doing a damn thing for blacks (despite getting 96% of the black vote, and blacks remaining his most fervent supporters) while going to bat for everybody else from gays to illegal Mexican immigrants. Hell, even Rev. Wright himself agrees with me that Obama has not one policy that primarily benefits black folks to his credit.
Larry Elder lists reasons Christians should have bolted party – besides ‘gay’ marriage
President Obama’s affirmation of gay marriage threatens to undermine the near-monolithic black support Obama enjoyed in 2008. Several members of the black clergy now say they intend to sit out the presidential election. One poll from last November found black opposition to gay marriage at 58 percent, higher than the rest of the country, which is about evenly split.
The real question is this: What took black church leaders so long to reconsider their near blind support for the Democratic Party?
The historical strength of black churches has been that of a moral and spiritual refuge in a once-hostile country of legalized slavery and Jim Crow. This explains why so many civil rights leaders came out of the church. The moral cause was just and clear: Equal rights mean equal rights – for everyone.
But equal rights and equal results are two very different things. The modern civil rights movement lost its way by failing to appreciate the difference. To achieve “equal results,” the Democratic Party, among other things, demands redistribution of wealth, a government response to the “gap” between the rich and poor, higher minimum wages and higher taxes on the so-called rich.
The Democratic Party opposes education vouchers, despite polls showing that black and Hispanic inner-city parents want them. The Democratic Party is the party of race-based preferences and also opposes privatization of Social Security.
The Democratic Party is the party of the welfare state –
a neutron bomb dropped on the intact nuclear family. Author/editor/professor Marvin Olasky, in his book “The Tragedy of American Compassion,” traces the growth of welfare. During a mere three-year period in the 1960s, welfare rolls increased nearly 110 percent. President Johnson established “neighborhood centers” whose workers went door-to-door, apprising people of their welfare “rights and benefits.”
Until the so-called “War on Poverty,” the poverty rate declined steadily. At the turn of the century, nearly 70 percent of Americans were poor. But by the time of the “War on Poverty,” the rate stood at approximately 13 or 14 percent. What happened? Welfare created dependency and decreased the incentive of the welfare recipient.
The Heritage Foundation compared families on welfare versus families eligible for welfare but that, for one reason or another, refused to take it. The results were startling. Heritage reported: “Young women raised in families dependent on welfare are two to three times more likely to drop out and fail to graduate from high school than are young women of similar race and socioeconomic background not raised on welfare. Similarly, single mothers raised as children in families receiving welfare remain on AFDC longer as adult parents than do single mothers not raised in welfare families, even when all other social and economic variables are held constant.”
The Democratic Party is the party of Roe v. Wade, even though blacks are more pro-life than whites. Former President Jimmy Carter, a religious man who called himself “twice born,” thought the Democratic Party made a tactical and moral error by embracing abortion-on-demand as a federal right guaranteed by the Constitution: “I never have believed that Jesus Christ would approve of abortions, and that was one of the problems I had when I was president, having to uphold Roe v. Wade. … But except for the times when a mother’s life is in danger or when a pregnancy is caused by rape or incest, I would certainly not and never have approved any abortions. … My position on abortion … is to minimize the need or requirement for abortion and limit it only to women whose (lives) are in danger or who are pregnant as a result of rape or incest. I think if the Democratic Party would adopt that policy, that would be acceptable to a lot of people who are now estranged from our party because of the abortion issue.”
The Democratic Party is the party of tax-the-rich. Never mind that Democratic Party icon President John Kennedy sounded downright trickle-downish when he said: “It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low – and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut rates now. The experience of a number of European countries has borne this out. This country’s own experience with tax reductions in 1954 has borne this out, and the reason is that only full employment can balance the budget – and tax reduction can pave the way to full employment. The purpose of cutting taxes now is not to incur a budgetary deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous expanding economy which will bring a budgetary surplus.”
The Democratic Party is the party of minimum wage. Nobel Laureate economist Milton Friedman said, “We regard the minimum wage as one of the most, if not the most, anti-black laws on the statute books.”
For all these reasons, having nothing to do with gay marriage, black churches should have broken with the Democratic Party long ago.
Better late than never.
Dear RPV,
Please do not let Obama steal the minority vote in Virginia, again. It has become a constant source of annoyance that the RPV has ignored the need for recruitment within the party ranks, not just of racial minorities, but women as well. This year is more important than ever.
We need to reach out to all minorities and let them know we need them, and more importantly, what we as a party have to offer them. We cannot accept the minority vote being left to Obama because we have not provided the information and outreach necessary to educate.
Thankfully, I was raised in a way that allowed me to see the benefits of a hardworking and free society. Some minorities have become victims of their dependency on the welfare system and we need to shine a light on the benefits of being a self-dependent citizen in our government. The RPV needs to step up and highlight the core Republican values that the members of the party have learned to love and believe in.
My plea to the RPV is to start using its resources to promote the party, and not let Obama and the Democrats to, once again, steal the minority vote in Virginia. Let’s start acting like the big tent party that we claim to be.

I’ve avoided writing about the Trayvon Martin situation because liberals assume I should have an opinion because I’m black and so was Trayvon. When something happens to a black person and it garners national news attention, the mainstream media trots out “the voices of black America.” This is offensive not only because the leftist mainstream media has appointed race baiters like NAACP, Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Eric Michael Dyson as our spokespeople but also because it assumes blacks are like children who need others think for them. White people don’t have white spokespeople speaking on their behalf and would never allow the mainstream media to dismiss their ability to think as individuals.
The murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin was tragic and needs to be thoroughly investigated. His killer George Zimmerman should be arrested and questioned along with eyewitnesses. Martin’s race could have been a motivation in Zimmerman pursuing and killing him but we don’t know. Racial profiling certainly exists; I’ve experienced it first hand and witnessed young black men dressed in suits or jeans trying to catch a cab in DC and be ignored.
Juan Williams Wall Street Journal articlesums what black activists are conveniently ignoring in their outrage over a single black teen’s death that “nationally, nearly half of all murder victims are black. And the overwhelming majority of those black people are killed by other black people.” Instead of wearing hoodies and participating in what I call hollow racial protests, the NAACP, black Congressmen and concerned citizens need to be showing outrage at the cancer called the breakdown of the American black family. Since the 1960s the crumbling black family has led to more black men in prison, greater number of high school dropouts, suspensions, etc. Finally, the biggest problem is 70% of black children are born to unwed others.
Rep. Bobbie Rush and others shouldn’t be spending time wearing hoodies on the floor of the United States House of Representatives, reinforcing negative stereotypes of the thug life (drug dealers with pit bulls, jailhouse fashion, women described as bitches and hoes and illegitimate babies in town). Juan Williams notes Hollywood glamorizes these images in movies and music videos, which has “young black people internalize it as an authentic image of a proud black person.”
“There is no fashion, no thug attitude that should be an invitation to murder. But these are the real murderous forces surrounding the Martin death—and yet they never stir protests,” wrote Williams.
Blacks organizing protests around Trayvon’s death ignore the white elephant in the room the disintegration of the black family over the past almost 50 years which is responsible for driving the black race into economic decline. In his 1965 research paper The Negro Family: the Case for National Action, Daniel Patick Moynihan then Assistant Secretary of Labor revealed the breakdown down of the black family was contributing to higher black dropout and incarceration rates and lower wealth achievement compared to whites. Moynihan warned, “The white family has achieved a high degree of stability and is maintaining that stability. By contrast, the family structure of lower class Negroes is highly unstable, and in many urban centers is approaching complete breakdown.”
Moynihan further noted there was an alarming trend in the number of black families headed by single women and the rise in illegitimate births among blacks. In 1964, 23.6% of black births were to unwed mothers today it’s 72%. Moynihan reminded us of what holds true today, when teenagers have children they are less likely to finish high school and climb the economic ladder.
The unemployment rate for black teens in 1965 was 29%, today it’s 40%. Since the days of Johnson, Democrat policies like welfare have only worsened the problem for blacks by rewarding black women with taxpayer dollars for raising fatherless children. Moynihan’s report it reads like it was written yesterday rather than nearly 50 years ago. “In a word, the tangle of pathology is tightening,” wrote Moynihan. Indeed it is. The destruction of the black family is where blacks should be firmly directing their outrage not in hoodie protests “full of sound and fury” and achieving nothing.

Black pundits say that to be black and Republican makes one a despicable race-traitor worthy of no-holds-barred punishment. As a black conservative Republican, I’m not frightened by this; it just angers and frustrates me.
My frustration comes from the knowledge that those claiming to have black America’s empowerment and best interest at heart are the “elephant-in-the-room” problem. They lie to black America. Who are “they”? They are democrats committed to keeping blacks viewing themselves as victims. They are racist bitter black politicians with huge chips on their shoulders, seeking eternal “payback” for America’s original sin of slavery. These black politicians are rewarded by the democrats for delivering black votes.
So there you have it, black America: these are your so-called advocates. And how do they help you? They lie to you. They tell you that 70% of black youths dropping out of high school is not your fault. They tell you that prisons filled with black males is not their fault. They tell you that 80% of black kids growing up without a father is not your fault. They tell you that black genocide – half of black pregnancies ending in abortion — is not your fault.
They tell you English is too difficult to learn and that standards must be lowered. They tell you that blacks who speak correct English are traitors trying to be white. They tell you that despite the fact that showing proper ID is required to board an airplane and a za-gillion other things, requiring ID to vote will disenfranchise blacks. Thus, their message is that blacks are too stupid to acquire ID.
When I was growing up in the black ghetto of east Baltimore, several corners had grocery stores owned by Jews. Later the Jews were replaced by Asians. Huge families lived upstairs, and their store was down stairs.
The community resented Jewish and Asian store owners in black neighborhoods. I always thought, “Why?” These people did not receive a start-up check from the government. They took a risk. They rented in the black ghetto because it was cheaper. They worked long hours. Experience taught them to install a wall of bullet proof glass, separating them from their customers. Fourteen, fifteen family members lived above their businesses. These Jewish and Asian people were pursuing the American Dream the best way they knew how. What was stopping their black customers from doing the same thing? Answer: In many cases, blacks were relying on democrat welfare programs.
I hear you – democrat brainwashed fellow blacks yelling at me: Lloyd, you Uncle Tom SOB! America is racist, and blacks did not have a fair shot in those days!
Yes, racism was an issue in those days. But how do you explain the entrepreneurial success of black millionaires in Harlem in the 1920s?
Blacks have been congressmen and business owners in America since the 1800s. And yet, democrats continue to tell us that we are incapable of finding our way to acquire an ID.
Democrats and bitter, small-minded blacks insist on forcing blacks into their “black box”. They say authentic blacks must have had a “ghetto experience”.
When the Bill Cosby Show first hit TV, it was highly criticized because the sitcom black father was a doctor and his family lived in a nice home. I heard the same criticism of Diahann Carroll in her TV sitcom, Julia in which she played a successful black nurse – not reflective of the black experience. The Cosby Show and Julia were outside of the democrat-promoted “black box”.
In my youth, I met a black Master Swordsman. Excited, I carted him around to black community centers because I wanted black kids to see that blacks could be successful in fields beyond entertainment and sports.
Despite blacks succeeding today in almost every area of American life, democrats continue to portray black Americans as still getting-the-short-end-of-the-stick. Democrats promote an image of the authentic black experience as a majority in need of government entitlements, as people who can’t find their way to acquire ID – sitting at home watching Maury on TV, anxiously awaiting for the results of the DNA test to discover the name of Keysha’s baby’s daddy. This is the democrat’s black America.
This is not black advocacy or empowerment. It is demeaning, humiliating and crippling. Why can’t my fellow blacks see this obvious truth?
I am a Republican because the Republican Party respects my intelligence – no special concessions or lowered standards.
In the 1950′s, my dad was one of the first blacks to break the racist color barrier into the Baltimore Fire Department. The white firefighters rejected my dad and made conditions horrific for him. Still, dad won “Firefighter Of The Year” two times. That’s what I am talking about!
Given the opportunity, in their typical denigrating of black intellect, democrats would argue that requirements for Firefighter Of The Year be lowered to give my dad a “fair” shot at it. Lowered standards would have robbed dad of the dignity and pride of his achievement. Thank God such was not the case.
Dad, a black man, won Firefighter Of The Year because he was the best! Yes, I am a black conservative Republican and proud of it. All you blacks who think the democrats are your friends, wake up and smell the betrayal.

ood stamp President, the phrase has offended some but may not actually offend who you think it has. The question I pose to you, Is Newt Gingrich the man to take away some of Obama’s strength in the minority community? His rise to front runner status and his momentum has made us pause and look at Newt as a possible nominee.
Question I asked was, Is Newt a guy who can take minority votes away from Obama, my answer is yes. His pounding on the economy with solutions’ is resonating with everyone, but I believe especially undecided minorities whose unemployment rate is far beyond the National average, and also minorities who hold their faith close has seen it attacked in recent time. Newt’s experience in working with Bill Clinton who was extremely popular within the black community could also help him in swinging votes as well.
What in my opinion what the black electorate is looking for (partly speaking for myself of course) is someone with clear solutions and able to connect. Rick Santorum though his faith and Pro-life stances are appealing has a hard time connecting with a minority electorate, by attacking single mothers and attacking those in the minority community that take public assistance without solutions, but with shame . I completely discount Satorum’s ability to swing any indy minority voters by his words alone. Mitt Romney who I personally like has the ability to swing voters, if he wanted to., though I believe his moderate title could help him do this during a general election. Though a lot of My Conservative friends have backed away from Mitt Romney saying he is not Conservative enough, I pose the question what if he gets the nomination will you back him? I personally believe his crossover appeal would be huge for our party, not as much as Newt but still a wave of Minorities coming to our side.
I am not using this as an endorsement of Newt in anyway but just a thought, and an idea, can we finally get the minority vote to look at what we already know. The GOP is actually built to promote minority success, promote values and life. The Democrats and Obama have left minorities by the waste side once again and its time for us to promote what’s good with our party. Lets take this time to rally for our candidates, and take the time to promote our party..!! This is the perfect time to do it.
